Bokra charity project for Arab youth: discover the video!

Sony Music Entertainment Middle East announced this week its association with the BOKRA charity project for Arab youth. As the official record company partner on this project, Sony Music Entertainment will be releasing this album region-wide on the 22nd of November, with proceeds going to a series of beneficiaries including the UN WFP.

Legendary global Music Producer, Quincy Jones has collaborated with Emirati entrepreneur, Badr Jafar, representing the Global Gumbo group to jointly produce an Arabic charity single entitled ‘TOMORROW/ BOKRA’. The song features Arabic vocals performed by 24 Artists from 16 Arab countries across the Middle East and North Africa singing with one voice for a better tomorrow. The Arabic lyrics were written by iconic Majida El Roumi, and the Arabic music adaptation is by Kadim Al Sahir. Grammy Award-winning producer RedOne, (a.k.a Nadir Khayat) who has worked with international superstars such as Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Akon and Enrique Iglesias, is producer of the track, while Malek Akkad (son of Moustafa Al Akkad the Director of ‘The Message’), directed the music video and documentary film.

On 11.11.11 (11th November 2011) the ‘Tomorrow-Bokra’ song premiered live around the world via global TV simulcast, regionally with MBC and on-line with YouTube-Google at an exclusive VIP event in the United Arab Emirates. The date was chosen to reflect a sense of oneness between all Arab countries and to serve as a beacon of hope for the future of the Middle East and North Africa region at a crucial time in its history.

Sony Music Entertainment Middle East have joined forces with the Global Gumbo Group to release the BOKRA album which features the official single and 14 emotional songs that unite the biggest Arab singing icons with International artists for the first time in history. The album features song contributions from Shakira, Leona Lewis, Usher, Marwan Khoury and many more.

One of the official charities for the project is the United Nations World Food Program which has partnered with the BOKRA initiative to incorporate programs into their existing education facilities in impoverished areas across the Middle East and North Africa. The aim is to unite all Arab countries with this charity music track, create a bridge with the Western world targeting the youth to raise awareness, create a platform for tolerance and communication, and to raise money to finance education programs in Music, Arts & Humanities for children across the Middle East and North Africa at a crucial time in the region's history
